Approved data boundary
What data should a small business allow into an AI workflow?
Allow only the minimum information needed for the task after the business has classified it, removed prohibited detail, and verified the provider's current handling, access, retention, training, and deletion terms.
What the operating concept requires
- Start trials with fictional, public, or safely redacted examples.
- Name prohibited categories before anyone copies information into a prompt.
- Treat customer, employee, financial, health, credential, contract, and regulated information as separate review questions.
- Recheck the boundary when the provider, account plan, integration, task, or audience changes.
What this concept does not prove
- A generic checklist cannot determine contractual, legal, regulatory, confidentiality, or sector-specific permission.
- Removing names may not make a record non-identifying when context can still reveal a person or organization.
